Skuldre kan sidde oppe om ørerne, hænge slapt ned, trække sig ind foran brystet eller føres tilbage, så brystkassen fremstår kraftfuld. Mange mennesker går rundt med ømme skuldre, men ikke mange af dem lytter efter, hvad deres skuldre prøver at fortælle dem.  

Musklerne omkring dine skulderled hiver i mange retninger – og det gør dine skuldre til et meget udtryksfuldt område. Skuldrene bliver stive og anspændte, når vi ikke udtrykker vores virkelige behov, når vi gør noget, som vi i virkeligheden helst ville være fri for, eller når det pres, der hviler på vores skuldre, simpelthen bliver for tungt at bære.

Skuldrene hænger også sammen med vores evne til at handle. Det er fra skuldrene, at vores handlende og kreative energi strømmer ned gennem armene og ud i hænderne, hvor den kommer til udtryk gennem det, vi udretter i verden, og i det hele taget den måde, vi lever vores liv på. Det er også skuldrene, der gør det muligt for os at række armene ud til knus eller kærtegn.

Hvad dine skuldre siger om dine følelser 

Når skuldrene sidder oppe omkring ørerne, er det et tegn på stress og angst. Vi hæver skuldrene, når vi bærer for stort et ansvar, oplever indre uro eller skal stå imod pres fra os selv og andre.  

Hænger skuldrene slapt ned, er det derimod et tegn på opgivelse. Vores kreative, handlende og skabende energi strømmer fra skuldrene, gennem armene og ud i hænderne. Opgivende skuldre har mistet evnen til at skabe og kreere. Energien strømmer ikke længere frit.

Skuldre, der runder ind mod brystet, afspejler et behov for at passe på sit hjerte. På et ubevidst plan forstår vi, at vi kan forhindre smerte ved at lukke os om hjertet på forsiden og spænde op i ryggen på bagsiden. Denne holdning gør også, at vi ikke fylder så meget. Vi bliver små og usynlige.

Skuldre, der er trukket langt tilbage, forsøger at give indtryk af styrke og mod. Men da de overdrevent tilbagetrukne skuldre er en spændingstilstand, er der ikke tale om autentisk styrke, men i virkeligheden ofte et værn mod noget, vi frygter.  

Vi holder selv på vores spændinger 

Skuldrene et sted, vi spænder op, når vi møder livets udfordringer. Vi spænder op i et forsøg på at klare os igennem, gøre det godt nok osv. Det er fint nok. Det er en naturlig reaktion. Men når vi ikke kan slippe vores anspændthed igen, giver det problemer.

Hvis vi ikke kan sænke skuldrene, får vi ondt. Hvis vi ikke kan åbne brystkassen og få skuldrene tilbage, er det svært at opleve den glæde og kærlighed, som livet byder på. Hvis vi ikke kan sænke paraderne og vise vores sårbarhed, er det svært at komme tæt på andre mennesker og lade os selv blive set. 

I virkeligheden er det faktisk os selv holder fast på vores spændinger. Vi kan slippe kroppens spændinger, når vi lader paraderne falde og slipper det psykiske forsvar.
